This is just one way of doing things. Ours.

Mocamar is a design company founded by Sebastian Moellers, a craftsman shaped by decades in precision manufacturing, long before 3D printing became easy, fast, or scalable. He creates lighting and home objects from reclaimed and recyclable materials that already lived a life and would otherwise become waste. When cheap materials and fast production became the norm, Sebastian chose a different path, because adding new virgin plastic to the world felt like the wrong answer. Mocamar is the result of that decision. Not a brand built around a personality, but a company built around responsibility - carried by someone willing to stay accountable for what is made.

Mocamar

I'm betting everything I've saved that people care about where their stuff comes from.

Mocamar is not just about beautiful lamps. It's about proving that waste can become something people are proud to own. That ocean trash can become a statement piece in your home. That 3% of revenue can support organizations protecting marine life.

How we design and make

Every Mocamar piece begins with curiosity, not with a machine. Before anything is produced, Sebastian looks for inspiration. In nature. In light. In proportions. In different design eras - especially mid-century Florida - and in the work of other designers. Design, for us, is not about novelty. It’s about awareness, selection, and restraint.

Ideas start as sketches.

Some are abandoned quickly. Others move into the digital space, where form, balance, and feasibility are tested. Sebastian works independently and in collaboration with other designers, challenging ideas until a design exists that can actually be made, not just imagined.

Values

The principles behind every choice.

When we create something, we take responsibility for its consequences - environmental, social, and human. This belief shapes every choice we make. All of this comes down to one belief: What we make matters. And responsibility doesn’t end at the moment of sale. These four pillars guide how we work, who we work with, and what we create.

Good design is restraint.

Mocamar is built with intention. Between technical possibility and restraint. Between what could be made easily and what should be made carefully, because taking less space, less material, and less attention is a form of respect.

Nature is a responsibility.

Nature is something we treat with care, because it carries the consequences of our decisions. That’s why we work with existing materials and give back where our impact is visible: 3% of every sale goes to ocean conservation.

Honesty before comfort.

We follow data over ideology. We tell the uncomfortable truths before you ask: where we succeed and where we’re still figuring it out. We’re not perfect. But we’re transparent about where we fall short. We believe people who care deserve the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable.

Talent exists everywhere. Opportunity doesn’t.

We want to build opportunities for people who face barriers to the labor market, because ability isn’t the problem. Opportunity is. We look for care, curiosity, and responsibility, not perfect résumés. Kindness, in practice, means building room for people who were never given one.

Mocamar

We design with conviction and let people decide why it matters to them.

The Ocean Collection is our first product launch. Premium lighting made from recycled fishing nets. Each piece in the Ocean Collection is released once and never repeated. Built from existing materials and designed to last.
