Before you ask
Some questions come up again and again.
About materials, production, timing, returns, and what happens over time. We’ve answered them here as clearly and honestly as possible.
If something isn’t covered here, reach out to hello@mocamar.us. We won’t automate the answer. We’ll take the time it deserves.
What does the name Mocamar mean? How do I pronounce it?
What does the name Mocamar mean? How do I pronounce it?
Mocamar is pronounced mo-CA-mar. The name brings together two meanings that share the same origin: the sea.
“Mocama” refers to the Atlantic coastal dialect spoken by the Timucua people who lived along the northern Florida coast at the time of European arrival (around 1562). Historically, Mocama translates to “the ocean” or “from the ocean.”
“Mar” is Spanish for sea and reflects the founder’s roots, growing up on the coast of Catalonia in Calella, Spain. Mocamar treats the sea not as a symbol, but as an origin point - a place that has connected people, materials, and trade for centuries, and that now carries the consequences of modern consumption.
What materials do you work with?
What materials do you work with?
Our primary material is PA6 filament derived from end-of-life fishing nets. Some objects are made entirely from this material, while others combine it with recycled PLA or recycled PETG where specific functional or structural properties are required. We work with suppliers that provide traceable, recycled material streams. All final products will be clearly labeled with their exact material composition.
Where are your products made?
Where are your products made?
Our objects are designed, developed, and planned to be produced in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Production is based on additive manufacturing and hand assembly, allowing for close quality control and short supply chains. This approach prioritizes consistency, repairability, and long-term responsibility over mass production.

Are the products shown already available for purchase?
Not yet.
The objects shown on this website are part of our current development phase. They represent finalized design directions and working prototypes, but production is not yet running at full scale. Instead of immediate purchasing, we’re offering a curated preview and an early-access waitlist. This allows us to complete development, finalize specifications, and prepare production responsibly before releasing the first edition.
Some details are still being finalized.Approximate dimensions and material compositions are shown to give a clear sense of scale, form, and intent. Final specifications may vary slightly before production begins. Any confirmed details will be clearly stated before ordering opens.
When will ordering open?
When will ordering open?
We’re currently finalizing our first production pieces. Ordering is expected to open in spring, once development is complete, specifications are confirmed, and production is ready to begin.
Waitlist members will be notified first.
What does “Join the waitlist” mean?
What does “Join the waitlist” mean?
Joining the waitlist gives you early access to our first releases.
You’ll be notified when:
- final specifications are confirmed
- production timelines are set
- early access or pre-orders open
The waitlist isn’t a sales funnel. It’s how we keep the first release small, intentional, and manageable.
Where do you ship?
Where do you ship?
Currently, we ship within the US only. We tested international shipping and found that products often didn't deliver, and when they did, costs were prohibitively high for customers. We're working to find reliable international shipping solutions and hope to expand beyond the US in the future.
How long will delivery take once ordering opens?
